My heart is breaking; shattered and devastated. Yesterday, the two year old child of a former of student passed away. It was sudden and without explanation and is absolutely crushing. It’s as if the force of the world has been cocked back and let go to the gut of all who know the mom and her family. This breaks; hurts my heart.
It hurts the heart of God too. There are no answers to this kind of tragedy. Only silent sitting, weeping with the ones who are hurting the most. When Jesus lost a good friend, he wept with the sisters. Jesus wept. He poured his eyes out. His shoulders caved with Mary and Martha at the death of Lazarus. This death, this painfully agonizing death of a young one breaks Jesus’ heart. He weeps. He mourns. This was not at all a part of his plan. He knows the hurt. He feels the hurt. And while he cries with the family left behind that deals with the shock, he cares for the little one who is now beside Him in heaven. She no longer weeps. She no longer cries. She has a heavenly family now, a family that longs for the day to be reunited with the ones who will cry now; the ones that will cry no more eventually.
So while this tragedy continues to throttle you, let it soak in that Jesus is crying right along side of you. His heart breaks. But know that He is exactly where He needs to be, and that this precious life that was lost, is now found in the wonderful embrace of a heavenly Father who will forever love her.
